Fit Together in Action October News EdAdvance gets kids moving with CATCH   CATCH (coordinated approach to child health) is a platform that launches kids and communities toward healthier futures.   Erica Gammon, the Early Childhood program director at Ed Advance and a Fit Together Gold Partner has incorporated CATCH movement activities into their classrooms.  At a recent staff meeting, Erica asked her classroom teachers to share their favorite CATCH physical activity with the group. Fit Together in Action September News Mini Grant Applications due October 15 I hope everyone is off to a happy and healthy school year. I wanted to remind everyone that the mini grants will be due soon.  It is a great time for people to apply for things that would help with outside gross motor activities. For example, stenciled games on the pavement or fun story walks to promote exercise and literacy. Fit Together in Action June News Staying Active during COVID-19 Family life has changed dramatically as a result of coronavirus. Weeknights and weekends spent ferrying kids to and from extra-curricular activities and sports are on hold indefinitely. So how do we redirect kid’s energy to activities they can enjoy safely? Exercise is important right now. Making sure daily exercise comes into your routine in the current health crisis is crucial. Fit Together in Action May News Torrington P.E. Teachers kick off “Keep Kids Moving"   May is Fitness Month and the elementary schools are celebrating with the A, B, C,’s of Fitness. A new letter every day of the month, a new challenge every day. Students can try completing the exercise demonstrated (in the daily posted video) or create an exercise of their own.
