Fit Together has provided both the teachers and students of Torringford School the opportunity to collaborate with a community program regarding overall health and wellness. The initiative provides our school with the resources needed to educate our students and their families about the importance of healthy eating, ample water consumption, and time spent being active each day. Fit Together has also given our school funding that has provided our students opportunities for increased physical activity during the day and for potential projects in the future.

"What I like most about working with Fit Together 5210 is that our teachers, students, and families are gaining the necessary information, tools, and motivation to live a healthier lifestyle."

Fit Together has helped us plan out a simple and easy way for our students and staff to take part in healthier habits throughout the day. Our students are learning about healthier lifestyles and many have implemented some of the practices into their everyday lives.

I love that 5210 helps with our whole child approach! Healthy children learn more easily and 5210 gives us the tools to help students and families begin making healthy habits!!

When it comes to nutrition, screen time and physical activity, 5-2-1-0 helps children understand that the choices they make now will benefit them for a lifetime! Hope that helps…FYI…I’m very, VERY excited about what we’re hoping to do for our grant application! Stay tuned 😊

“Our schools are putting health and nutrition theory into action with the guidance and support of the community led Fit Together 5-2-1-0 initiative. Through this partnership, students in grades pre-k-12 were able to sample healthy snacks, enjoy using their gross motor skills as they navigate a themed sensory hallway path and build upper body strength while swinging on a fitness trail trapeze. We are incredibly grateful for everything Fit Together has done for our students and entire school community!”

The drinking fountain encourages athletes to stay hydrated while exercising, providing an alternative to less healthy, sugary drinks. We were very fortunate that Fit Together partnered with PAL in order to provide this healthy alternative.

We have a 5210 poster hanging in every exam room. It's a great tool to go through with the kids, and parents, during their visit. And very gratifying when the kids say "Oh, yeah. They have that in my school too". Reinforcement of the message!". Hope that helps!
