Fit Together in Action August News Blending Fun and Community This summer has been filled with sunshine, smiles, and a whole lot of smoothie making! We were thrilled to partner with Our Culture is Beautiful by bringing our blender bike to their Fun in the Park summer day camp at Jiggs Donahue Park. The children and their guardians had a great time sampling the smoothies they created by peddling the bike with just a few healthy ingredients. Fit Together in Action June News Partner Highlights: Spring Fling at Warren Elementary! I recently checked in with Michele Ferrer, Fit Together champion and School Nurse at Warren Elementary School. To celebrate the end of the school year, Warren School held a “Spring Fling” event, which included fitness education and interactive craft projects.  The students enjoyed learning karate and yoga, then rotated through creative projects such as rock painting, creating walking sticks, making bird houses, making seed balls to plant, macramé, paper necklaces and tie dying. Fit Together in Action March News Partner Highlights: Jessica Stewart Visits Goshen Center School and James Morris School Having not visited two of our silver partners since the COVID-19 pandemic, it was very exciting to tour the Goshen Center School with school nurse Julia Turtoro. The school recently installed a book vending machine that takes special gold tokens which students earn by attending school events and for being respectful, responsible, or safe. Fit Together in Action February News Region 6 Elementary Schools Celebrate Health Students in RSD6 elementary schools have been learning about heart health in STEM classes. Grades K-5 are learning about the function of the heart, its importance to life, and things they can do to keep their hearts healthy and strong. Fit Together in Action January 2024 News Torrington Public Schools New Year/New You Poster Contest Fit Together is collaborating with Torrington Public Schools to offer a New Year/New You poster contest to all students.  Students can draw or create a digital poster with a health and wellness theme to align with Fit Together’s 5-2-1-0 message.  Physical education teachers from each school are encouraging students to participate.  Teachers will select two winning posters from each school.  The winning artist will receive a free smoothie from the FUEL Smoothie and Juice Bar, located inside Energy Health & Fitness Factory.  Winning posters will…

NEW Early Childcare Center Partner- Canaan Childcare Center Our new Fit Together partner, Canaan Childcare Center, received a grant through the Northwest Regional Early Childhood Alliance for the purpose of engaging parents into the school readiness community and to raise awareness of early childhood education needs.
