Winsted Area Child Care Center- supporting families with nutritious food

This month we are highlighting one of our GOLD partners; Winsted Area Child Care for their work fighting food insecurity during this pandemic. This past spring the center provided whole fruits, vegetables, breakfast items and snack items to their families.  For ten weeks, parents could sign up for weekly boxes filled with healthy nutritious items. Barbara Mazzei, a member of Fit Together’s Youth and Families Subcommittee and the centers education manager, said they were able to serve approximately 75-125 people!

Most recently they were able to provide CT Food Bank boxes to their families. Currently, they are preparing to help support families during Thanksgiving.  A big shout out to Barbara and her team for making a difference in so many lives in this difficult time.
