Fit Together in Action May News Fit Together Partner Highlights- Torringford Gaga Pits Torringford School was awarded a fall Fit Together mini grant to purchase materials to build a Gaga Pit for the students. Jared Sheik the wood-making Torrington High School teacher and his students constructed the pit and now with the warmer weather the kids are finally able to use it. Kelly Galullo, principal reports “the Gaga Pits have been a super addition to our school providing our students with a new opportunity to get physical activity in PE class, during recess and after school.” For more information…

Fit Together in Action April News Fit Together Partner Highlights Early Childcare- Brooker Memorial A group of nursery school students at Brooker Memorial, one of Fit Together gold partner sites, love experimenting with starting seeds in organic eggshells. Charlene Lee Child Care Director said the kids have tried manure pots, peat pots, and pots handmade from newspaper. Fit Together in Action February News Kids Marathon We are excited to announce that Torrington Kids Marathon- that’s right 26.2 miles is back on this year. Fit Together will once again support this super event and cheer all participants on as they finish their marathon on Sunday, June 5, at the Torrington High School track. Fit Together in Action November News School Updates Vogel Wetmore Plans for Hydroponic Tower Garden Vogel Wetmore School is excited to enhance their school garden with the addition of a hydroponic garden tower. As one of Fit Together’s fall mini grant awardees this year-round garden will travel from classroom to classroom incorporating hands on learning both about science and about healthy foods. Fit Together in Action October News Virtual Fall Healthy Habits Class for Kids Fall HIKING First Fit Together Hike Fest A huge thanks to everyone who helped make our first ever Fall Hike Fest such a fun and active afternoon! Fit Together in Action September News Torrington Kids Marathon 2021 The kid's marathon program is in full swing at the Torrington schools and it looks a bit different, but our message is the same finishing is winning and winning is finishing. We usually kick off this event in the spring with a final mile celebration in June but since the pandemic our kids have missed out on this special occasion. Fit Together in Action August News Healthy Habits for Back-to-School It’s almost time to say goodbye to summer and send our children back to school. Transitions can sometimes cause stress and anxiety, but planning and adjusting habits can go a long way in helping kids to manage and thrive. Exercise and stay physically active.
