Fit Together School Highlight: Goshen Center School

One of our newest Fit Together Schools is Goshen Center School. They are working hard to share our 5210 message to their students and families.   I reached out to Julia Turtoro, the school nurse and chair of the school's wellness committee to see what they had been up to since signing on to the initiative.

“Goshen Center School is so happy to be partnered with Fit Together and to incorporate their mission to build healthy communities in our school. To foster healthy eating and active living, we share wellness advice based on the 5-2-1-0 model during morning announcements on "Heath Tip Tuesday". We also have a white board outside the Nurse's office that has a health/wellness-based message every day. Soon we'll be installing a hands-free water bottle filling station thanks to a generous grant from Fit Together NWCT for which we are so grateful!”

Congratulations to all the students and staff for taking the steps to live a healthy lifestyle. We look forward to our continued partnership.

Winter Festival February 5

Celebrate all things winter at DEEP’s annual free family Winter Festival taking place at Burr Pond State Park on February 5 from 10am – 3pm!

Children and adults can spend time together outdoors and try ice fishing (ice dependent), go on a hike, try snowshoeing, play winter games, and enjoy a fish fry and story-time by the bonfire.

Fit Together will be there with snowshoes on! Come say hello and borrow a pair of snowshoes for a stroll through the woods in winter.
