Partner Highlights: Litchfield Center School
During a recent visit to Litchfield Center School, teacher Laura Pieger demonstrated the school’s hydroponic tower garden, which was integrated into the students’ study of plants and growth cycles. Mr. Olmstead, a science teacher at LCS, maintains the tower while the students enjoy observing its bounty of plants and herbs, as well as listening to the waterfall. At the end of the school year, the harvest will be given to LCS teachers to enjoy.
Another celebration of health and wellness at LCS was the school’s “ACES Day,” which stands for All Children Exercising Simultaneously. Celebrated every May, ACES Day provides an opportunity for all students and staff to exercise simultaneously with fun movement games and songs which promote physical activity.
