Torrington Kids Marathon 2021

The kid’s marathon program is in full swing at the Torrington schools and it looks a bit different, but our message is the same finishing is winning and winning is finishing.

We usually kick off this event in the spring with a final mile celebration in June but since the pandemic our kids have missed out on this special occasion.   This year we are getting kids moving with 13.1 miles or a half marathon in the fall, gearing them up for the full 26.2 miles this spring.

Come cheer on these kids as they complete this challenge on October 24, 9am at the Torrington High School track.  Or if you are interested in volunteering please contact Jessica Stewart.

Foodie YouTube- You are what you eat- turn up the heat!

Fit Together’s executive director Carla Angevine MS RDN, teamed up the YMCA Youth Service Bureau and the BeREADY Project for a healthy cooking demo series- Foodie YouTube.

This community collaboration came from the idea that many of the school lunches offered to families throughout the summer and food pantry items are not always completed consumed. The team came up with easy ways to repurpose the food items into complete healthy budget friendly tasty meals that an entire family can enjoy.
