Torrington Middle School Awarded Fit Together Mini Grant- Snowshoeing Fun!
This winter Fit-Together awarded the Torrington Middle School P.E. program a mini grant to help purchase 50 pairs of snowshoes.
Jim Pepper the P.E. teacher who oversaw the program said “the kids really enjoyed the snow showing unit as they trekked around the school’s trails and summited large piles of snow.”
The students learned how to get their snowshoes on (and off), maneuver them and to “turtle” which simply means to fall down, roll over on their backs then to their stomachs and get back up.
It was definitely a great winter to learn a new physical activity that can be used for a lifetime.
