Fit Together in Action January News Partner Highlight: Torrington Middle School Torrington Middle School (TMS) is one of Fit Together’s partner schools. TMS’s Fit Committee recently embarked on a fitness campaign called the 12 Days of Winter Fitness Challenge. The challenge started on December 7th and ended on December 22nd. Teachers, nurses, building administrators, and the TMS Fit Committee recorded and presented one fitness challenge daily to promote fitness and wellness to our students. Fit Together in Action October News   Fit Together Partner Highlights- Vogel-Wetmore Celebrates Local Harvest Vogel-Wetmore elementary school is one of Fit Together’s Gold Status partners celebrated the local bounty harvest this month both with a farmer visit and school garden celebration.  Torrington Public Schools received a local produce grant for the school year, providing funds to purchase local fruits and veggies for the school meal program.  On Friday October 7, Vogel-Wetmore students had a special visitor from one of the participating farms during their lunch. Fit Together in Action September News Fit Together Partner Highlights- Oliver Wolcott Technical High School Oliver Wolcott Technical High School is one of our Fit Together Silver partners. A few years ago they used funds from Fit Together to buy and install a touchless water fountain. They promoted the new fountain with a cool water intake challenging.  This spring they school was awarded another Fit Together Mini Grant. Fit Together in Action April News Fit Together Partner Highlights Early Childcare- Brooker Memorial A group of nursery school students at Brooker Memorial, one of Fit Together gold partner sites, love experimenting with starting seeds in organic eggshells. Charlene Lee Child Care Director said the kids have tried manure pots, peat pots, and pots handmade from newspaper. This year they are getting sugar snap peas planted and will transfer them into their outdoor beds once the warmer weather is finally here.
