Fit Together in Action September News Torrington Kids Marathon 2021 The kid's marathon program is in full swing at the Torrington schools and it looks a bit different, but our message is the same finishing is winning and winning is finishing. We usually kick off this event in the spring with a final mile celebration in June but since the pandemic our kids have missed out on this special occasion.   This year we are getting kids moving with 13.1 miles or a half marathon in the fall, gearing them up for the full 26.2 miles this spring. Fit Together in Action May News Healthy For Life 5k  Litchfield Montessori School ( LMS), one of Fit Together’s newest partners held their first annual 5k run/walk this past Sunday with 130 participants.   Students, families, friends and the community tied up their laces and hit the beautiful course which started on North Shore Road, wound through the shady woods of Litchfield’s White Memorial Conservation center and finished using the new Litchfield Community greenway. Fit Together in Action March News Torrington Middle School Awarded Fit Together Mini Grant- Snowshoeing Fun! This winter Fit-Together awarded the Torrington Middle School P.E. program a mini grant to help purchase 50 pairs of snowshoes. Jim Pepper the P.E. teacher who oversaw the program said “the kids really enjoyed the snow showing unit as they trekked around the school’s trails and summited large piles of snow.” The students learned how to get their snowshoes on (and off), maneuver them and to “turtle” which simply means to fall down, roll over on their backs then to their stomachs and get…
