Fit Together in Action April
Partner Highlights: Child Care Center Visits
In anticipation of our Family Bicycle Rally on Saturday, May 4, I have been visiting our partner child care centers to demonstrate Strider balance bikes and emphasize the importance of bike helmet safety. The kids were very excited to try the Strider bikes and wear some very cool helmets. Spending time with these energetic youngsters and their teachers was a great way to reconnect and enjoy the outdoors.
Family Bicycle Rally- Saturday May 4- 12-4pm
We are excited to host the third Family Bicycle Rally along the Sue Grossman Greenway trail. The free event will take place on Saturday, May 4, from noon to 4 p.m. with a rain date of Sunday, May 5.
Participants can ride 2 to 7 miles along the new extended trail; all wheels are welcome (skateboards, scooters, rollerblades, etc). Bikes will be available for loan. For younger riders new to biking, there will be Strider Balance Bikes and an obstacle course, for ages 18 months to 6 years old. There will also be fun kids’ activities, the Meraki’s food truck, prizes, a helmet giveaway and refueling stops along the trail.
“Engaging families in outdoor activities fosters a healthier, happier community,” said Carla Angevine, Fit Together executive director.
Participants should dress for the weather, including comfortable shoes. Parking is available at RBC Aircraft Products, 2788 Winsted Road, Torrington, and check in at the tent near the entrance. The Sue Grossman Greenway is stroller and wheelchair accessible and the event is free and open to all members of the community.
Worksite Wellness- April National Garden Month
Employers are recognizing the benefits of workplace gardens – places to experience camaraderie, collaboration, team spirit and respite. Gardens become neutral zones where office roles and barriers fall away, decisions are made through community, and talking openly becomes easy. Relationships are made, ideas are born and collaboration takes place.
Celebrate National Garden Month by cultivating a workplace garden and watch how colleagues can work toward common goals while spending time outdoors.

SPRING RECIPES 20 30-Minute Mediterranean Diet Dinners for Spring
Cheesy Asparagus Chicken Cutlets
A creamy cheese sauce spiked with tender-crisp asparagus blankets chicken cutlets in this early-spring-inspired weeknight dinner. The asparagus can be swapped with other tender, snappy steamed veggies, like snap peas or green beans. Serve with fingerling or new potatoes for a starchy side to complement the sauce.
