The Sue Grossman Still River Greenway is a beautiful, family-friendly, ~3 1/2-mile stretch of rail-trail running from Torrington through Winsted, Connecticut. Offering a paved, flat service it is accessible for walking, running, and all types of wheels (bikes, roller blades, scooters, strollers, and wheelchairs).
The trail starts at the intersection of Harris Dr & Winsted Rd in Torrington, runs parallel to Winsted Rd/Torrington Rd, and currently ends at ~151 Torrington Rd in Winsted (just north of the Winsted DMV).

Sue Grossman Greenway Exercise Equipment
One of our favorite projects here at Fit Together is the installation of exercise equipment along the Sue Grossman Greenway*. This equipment can be found at points along the Torrington section of the trail starting just after Harris Drive, heading north, and ending before Pinewoods Road. [New equipment will be added in Winsted soon!]
#1 Balance Plate

#3 Horizontal Fitness Ladder

(Located just north of North Rd, ~2865 Winsted Rd, Torrington)

#4 Seated Leg Extension

(Located at ~3447 Winsted Rd, Torrington)

#5 Two-Person Inclined Sit-Up Station

#6 Two-Person Full Bar Exercise

*This project was completed between 2019 and 2020 through funding from Fit Together and the Sue Grossman Still River Greenway Fund at the Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation. Installation support was also received from Torrington Parks and Recreation and the mile markers were created by Ansis Bergs, a creative Fit Together volunteer.
Sue Grossman Greenway Events

In addition to installing exercise equipment, bike racks, and signage along the Sue Grossman Trail, Fit Together has been encouraging its use through fun community events. These have included multiple family bike rallies and the “Rock the Sue Grossman Greenway Family Fitness Scavenger Hunt.” Follow us on Facebook or through our newsletter to learn about upcoming events.
